Default So, the light turns green and I go straight ahead... Problem was..

light was left green arrow.

I avoid oncoming (turning) traffic and proceed to pull over immediately... A white Ford Crown Vic was behind me, the kind you KNOW is an unmarked unit. Sure enough the grille lights flash, and soon an officer is standing at my window.

The NICEST officer! "Well, sir, my guess is that you saw the light change and traffic move, and just pulled ahead. Well, no harm done... You just be more careful."

Other than the utmost respect I display for officers, I think he was impressed that I pulled over even before he lit-up the Reds-n-Blues.

*phew*

Default Close call myself this morning...

Driving into work, traffic moving along pretty good, notice a cop with radar. Traffic naturally slows down. IDIOT behind me in a huge SUV doesn't even stop. He then gets about 2 inches from my bumper and SLAMS on the breaks taking him into a nice swervy manuver that landed him up on the grass....Car behind him clips the bumper and well...I was thankful he thought enough of me not to nail the back end of my TT

Thanks Mr. Stupid SUV! PAY ATTENTION!!!

Default I have done exactly that same thing before>>

minus the cop behind me, though, luckily.

Speaking of pulling over before they "chase" you-- I'll agree that it works. Done this twice so far, got off once with a warning, the other time he "reduced" the speed to 14 over, meaning no points and does not report to the state computer (insurance company won't find out).

Default Did the same thing last week in my work truck, oops ;-(....

Luckily there was no police around. My perfect record of no tickets ever might have been broken

Default I was on the receiving end on a motorcycle of what you did...

I was damn lucky.

So a mistake like that can have tragic consequences. Now that you are wiser, you'll remember to look before you go, and not react on impulse and habit.

Some people have been killed and the offending party gotten off by "oops". Not enough to wipe your brow and say you were lucky not getting a ticket. Just a friendly reminder :-)
