So you wanna change a front outer CV joint/boot?
But you don't feel like removing the entire axle? Fear not....
1) Jack up car and place on stands. Remove wheel.
2) Using 12-point 30mm socket and impact wrench remove axle nut. (If you don't have air tools, remove this with the car flat on the ground thru the wheel center cap, with the car in gear and brake applied. Use a LONG 1/2" or 3/4" drive breaker bar. It's a motherf*cker).

3) Detach tie rod end and sway bar link.

4) Scribe position of ball joint nuts on control arm, and remove.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/type89q/tt_cvjoint/P2060005.jpg">
5) Separate CV from strut/wheel bearing housing (few taps with hammer necessary)
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/type89q/tt_cvjoint/P2060008.jpg">
6) Cut old boot away being careful to catch any old grease that will fall out.
7) Using a heavy hammer and a block of wood (to protect joint), carefully pound joint straight off axle. This takes some force but be careful not to damage the expensive joint. You've got to get it over the circlip.

8) Clean the old grease from the joint. Assembly is the reverse of removal (though it will be Monday for me as I received the wrong boot from Impex so will have to buy one locally. Maybe from the stealer. Ugh.)

Ripped at the inner clamp. It wasn't losing much grease but
after the storms, we had some heavy rains and I ended up driving thru a flooded area... probably a foot or more of water.... knew I got some water in the joint (confirmed, only a few drops tho) so I stopped driving it after that.
