Default SOLUTION: found a way to re-enable centre console buttons

Haven't dropped my 3.2 TT off at the dealer's yet (tomorrow hopefully) for the locking doors / remote key / console buttons problems, but I have found a reliable way to re-enable the trunk release and gas cap buttons:

<img src="http://hitechgti.50megs.com/audi/buttons/buttons15.jpg">

In case you haven't read my previous posts, this is what's been happening:

(1) Remote control (fold-out key) randomly stops working

(2) When doors are unlocked and driver-side door is physically opened, both doors are automatically locked again - caused some havoc a couple of days ago, got locked outside the car with engine running and no spare keys.. nightmare!

(3) Centre console buttons for trunk release and gas cap release randomly stop working

Well, I realized that (2) and (3) are actually related, or more specifically: (3) happens because of (2). The trunk/gas cap buttons will be working fine for a while, but if the driver door is locked, then unlocked (a while later, doesn't matter) and actually opened, the locking mechanism kicks in per (2) above, and the buttons stop working. At that point, all that needs to be done is hit the "unlock" button on the remote/key and.. Voilą! the buttons start working again.

Of course, this doesn't help when the remote doesn't work, and I still haven't figured out why it goes out of programming, but that's what we'll find out at the dealers tomorrow..

There it is - just thought I'd share that with everyone in case it happens to someone else.

Stay tuned for more ;-)

Default Yup, that's where I hang out for the most part!

Actually my gf lives in the Castro as well, 19th &amp; Diamond. Couple blocks west of Hartford. If your son wants to see it close up, let me know!

Did you relocate the buttons, or did Audi decide it made more sense with that layout?
