Default some spark plug info and questions

I have done a search and really didn't get an answer in searching of " difference of copper core vs v- electrode vs platinum in performance /plug life" ...so your input would be helpful.....

The following is all NGK & o.e. numbers & heat range......

Copper core BKR6ES base cost=b
V-electrode power BKR6E base cost=b
G-power platinum BKR6EGP Base cost=b x 2
Iridium BKR6EIX base cost=b x 4
O.E.platinum/iridium PFR6Q base cost=B x 6

the O.E. part evidently is licencesd to NGK thus the big price. Not being familiar with the 1.8 motor in particular I would like input. In general I have found that platinum tip gives far more life /performability (whatever that means) in most (but not all) motors but I have no learning curve with the 1.8L. What say the experts ?

Default copper plugs have not faired well in 1.8t cars in general>>>

and if you have any kind of tune going, i would really stay away....

PFR6Q is stock....you can run Denso Iridium IK20's or IK22's if you are running more mods and higher boost..

I run the Denso's and find they need to be regapped every 10k or so to eliminate unnecessary wear on the coilpacks. Figure the life expectancy to be around 20-25k on the Denso's as well...

TT and is pretty sensitive to electrical...so, i would go with proven solutions and not the gimmicky stuff IMO

thanks the input TT...

""""so, i would go with proven solutions and not the gimmicky stuff IMO"""""

Thats why I want to stay with NGK. No mods, none planned...I'm kinda leaning towards the platinum or irridium plugs. 25 K is three years driving...so milage isnt much of a factor. and I understand the gap issues etc in newer posts.

Default I am running G-power (second set) and have been quite happy.

They are in appearance very similar to the OE ones but cheaper

Default NGK PFR6Q...

In my experience, they last much longer than others (they go 40K+ for me, IK20's went about 20K, I tried some BKR6-somethings, less than that).

$21/set, cheap.

Default i have seen you drive.....>>>

with the exception of an occasional intersection....;-P

j/k

Actually, like i said "generally" which does not mean "all"...Some have had success....i have just seen a lot of the cheaper/copper plugs cause problems over the years, and less so with a stock solution....just my opinion...
