Default Someone tried to steal my car yesterday......

I was in Vancouver yesterday and was parked in a very busy mall when this happened. I did the usual precautions, suchs as emptying my entire car, empty out my glove box and keep my glove box open. The mall which I was in is called Metrotown. Many people say that this is a high crime area, which is why I empty out my car.

The damage consist of a passenger keyhole that is completely demolished. A very scratched door and a few dents from the culprit trying to pop the keyhole. It even looks like he used a hammer to try to jam the screw driver in further. The sight is unbearing.

I'm very glad this was the only damage done to the car. I am glad that I was able to drive home at all! I'm also glad that none of my expensive things was not stolen, like my laptop and radar(in trunk).

Please be careful where you park. I know a bunch of people here will park very far away from the mall so they won't get door dings. Think twice. The closer you park, the more your protected.

Default Re: Glad you still have your car. This is a common technique

They use a slide hammer to bust out the lock. The Key code is stamped on the lock so they just make a key from the code.

Sorry to hear that. They should strap the offender to a cruise missile addressed to Bin Laden.

Default Metrotown is notorious

It's not only a shopping mall for consumers, but also one for car thieves.

Also, if you have US or any other non-BC plates and park anywhere in downtown Vancouver, expect a visit from the local window smasher. Sad but true.

Default Another one to add to my list of...

REASONS NEVER TO VISIT CANADA!!!!

1. They still have a picture of the queen of England on their currency.
2. They can't decide if they want to be French or American.
3. 90% taxation isn't my thing.
4. If there's anything good in Canada it eventually moves to America anyway...(Alan Thicke etc)
5. They insist on wearing the stupid Maple Leaf on their backpacks to distinguish themselves from Americans, yet they adopt every bit of our pop culture.
6. I hate hockey.

and now...

7. They'll smash my windows out of nationality-envy.

Default You all have passenger keyholes?

A4's just have a plain handle on every door other than the driver. :\
