Default Sorry to bore you with a dumb brake question but.........

I purchased new slotted/cross drilled rotors from ECS. I was planning to use the existing oem pads, with about 9k miles on them. After reading the directions they say to never fit old pads with a new rotor. True?

Default Well....

It's not really a good idea to do it. I don't think there is a lot of danger in it. But basically what happens is a set of pads will wear to match the shape of a rotor. When you change rotors you may have less contact and will create excessive heat in the areas that are contacting which can either increase heat on the rotor creating hard spots or can glaze the pad.

For best results it's always recommended to change the pads with the rotors, it will save you some potential headache.
