Default Sound coming from under car (driver side)... sounds like a loose piece, when the weight... (more)

shifts it make a "knock" sound.... kinda like a marble rolling in a pipe... accelerate and KNOCK, hit the brake (or lift off the gas quickly) and KNOCK...
thinking its the oilpan or something??? Any ideas??

Thanks,

Default It's your diverter valve "clonking" as you back of the gas.

Default nahh... I've heard that one before... this sounds totally mechanical (metal) and comes from right...

under my seat.... plus it doesn't happen on uphills or downhills which makes me think its some kind of piece which is not attached correctly and his hanging at an angle.
If I'm wrong and it is the DV.... then I'm doomed... =-(<p>2000 Audi TT 180hp Coupé (Blue)

Someone suggested that their "throttle lift off rattle" might be caused by a loose exhaust heat shield noted when their TT was on the rack. Sounded plausible. Check the archives.

Default Yeah.. I have the same sound

I had the dealer check it out at the 5K but he could not find it. Mine (2000 180FWDC) sounds like the exhaust is hitting the underside, but I have had it up on our lift at work and there is no indication of it hitting anything. Mine sometimes will not "klunk" untill it warms up. A while back someone posted a similiar noise and they had the flex pipe replaced between the turbo and the first muffler. The service manager at Beverly Hills Audi has a part number for a better replacement. I'm due for my 10K service soon and plan to have it replaced. Good Luck.

Default Sounds exactly like it!!! Also, at high speed (80mph) I can't hear it, but thats probably cause of

wind noise!!!

Default

Might be a loose heat shield around converter or exhaust components Bracketracer posted 2 wks ago.

Default You're not doomed - the dv fix is easy....

...and the "marble in a pipe" sounds very much like the vacuum opening the valve when you lift off.<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/keyfob.jpg">

Default Thats what I thought at the begining... but I can coach the car into making the...

sound without using the accelerator... If I'm on a downhill (not too steep) and I apply the brake it does it, but once I release it does it again.... I'm also very sure that its not coming from the engine bay. I looked under the car
this morning... nothing... not a single loose part... but then again most of
it is covered anyway !!!! =(<p>2000 Audi TT 180hp Coupé (Blue)

Default OK. Does the seat belt tensioner use a ball-bearing or marble to lock it?
