Spark Plugs

Bosch states "The electrode gap is factory set and NEVER requires adjustment". I would, however carefully inspect the spark plugs. First be certain that the individual boxes and better yet the carton that the boxes are shipped in is factory sealed (they come four to a carton). They can withstand a great deal mistreatment as long as they are boxed. If the box is open, go elseware. The ceramic portion of the plug can sustain damage if dropped (sometimes invisable) that can be the source of difficult to diagnose problems later on. At installation look carefully at the four external electrodes. They should appear symetrical. Although there is no gapping tool the electrodes should have about the same distance, or gap, to the center electrode. If one is bent or if you have any doubts about the integrity of the spark plug, replace it. Finally, many people tighten spark plugs into the cylinder head by "feel". If you have experience with this and know what to "feel" for, fine. Otherwise, hunt down the proper wrench and tighten them to the factory spec (in this case 30 Nm). Bottom line: you can just pop them in!
