Spark Plugs: Any one tried anything different? Results?

a couple of friends of mine....
replaced their platinum ones with copper spark plugs
on their heavily modified supras. i guess copper is
supposedly more conductive than platinum. they
both claim slight but noticeable increase in high-end
torque. but they need 2b replaced much more
frequently, like every 10k miles or so.
