Default Speaker recommendations - I'm looking at Infinity Kappa, Polk EX and possibly some others - I need

them for my Avant. I purchased some Polk EX352's for $89 a pair - but just found out today that the rears are 6.5's, when I was told they were 5.25's, so at least one pair goes back. I purchased a US Acoustics 6 channel amp with 50 watts RMS per channel and also realized that the EX 352's were rated up to 40 watts RMS but 135 peak. I'll be bridging the 5th and 6th channel for a 8" Kicker CompVR sub. It's all that will fit in the existing sub enclosure - although it's gonna be very tight.

The Infinity Kappa 52.1 and 62.1 are rated at 50 RMS and 70 RMS respectively and I can get them for $90 a pair. I've always liked the sound of Polks - have had them in my home for over 20 years! I've found some Polk EX 502's and 602's for $75 and $85 and they are rated at 100 and 150 watts continuous.

Any others I should look at? I don't want to spend more than $90-100 a pair. Also I've noticed alot of the places on the web are not "authorized" dealers. Should I avoid those places?

Default Joe, I've always liked Polk Audio speakers as well. ...

The Kappas have an edge over Polk in very high range reproduction but the overall Polk sound is solid and extremely well balanced. Admittadly, I haven't shopped around for a few years but If I were buying today, I would seriously consider Polk.

Default I like the infinity Kappas a lot...

I have a set in both vehicles. I've had 6x9 3-way Kappas in my beater van for 11 years, still sound great. I have Kappa separates in the TT doors, which I run off the stock head unit with suprisingly good results. Seriously.

Kappas will, of course, be happier with an amp, since they aren't the most efficient on the planet... so you have that covered. As others suggested, you'd do well with BA of Polk too.

Default I'm leaning towards the Kappas - they handle more RMS power than the Polks

thanks Evan.
