Step 1 of Fikse Mach V wheel fitment complete....and an utter flop. :(

First off, Fikse sent a mock 9" wheel instead of the 8 1/2" they promised, so we were doomed from the start. However, we were able to gather some important iformation for another try.
Second, the offset of the wheel as sent did not clear the brake calipers. To get them to clear, they had to add 6mm of spacer. Between the cup on the wheel they sent plus the extra 6mm, the wheel stuck outside of the fender well.
So the solution is to do another mock wheel if they can. He thinks the widest Fikse wheel that will fit on my car is 18x8, not 8.5. He's going to have them make this wheel with 1/2" less cup on the outside of the wheel and see if they can't add the required 6mm to the offset. So the wait starts all over again.
On the bright side, the wheels they sent had the actual Mach V center so I was able to verify that this is REALLY the wheel I want. It's stellar on the TT. I'm still futzing around on finishes because not only do they need to know about whether the wheel is anodized or not, but I can treat the centers & rims seperately. They typically deliver an anodized wheel with a polished rim so small scratches, etc. in the rim can be polished out. Of course, it looks like an anodized wheel witha polished rim & I don't know if I want that.
Looks like I'll have plenty of time to figure it out, though.

If they were chrome that would be one thing but Aluminum needs clear coat I believe so while you may be able to polish out a scratch you would then want to re-clearcoat. I carefully use full-strength Simple Green on my anodized wheels, as instructed, without worry.

"Fourth, most of our wheels have the center section clear coated and the rims polished but left uncoated. This means that the rim (if not coated or anodized) can be touch-up polished. We recommend a product called Wenol to polish rims. There are two types, Wenol Red and Wenol Blue. Use the red for coarse polishing and the blue for final finish polish."
