Default strange behaviour of RPM gauge

2003 TTR 180Hp FWD, when the engine starts, the RPM gauge indicates 0 rpm and after 2 seconds it climbs to 1100 rpm as usual..
is this normal? it has happened on cold start this morning for the first time

maybe you have already discussed about it, but I wasn't able to find any information through the search feature...

Yep, he runs OEM battery, the engine started fine without strange noises..
maybe it's just that TTs don't like cold starts..

Cluster or slightly sub-par battery. Not sure people have figured out which.

Default I took my car to the dealer for this about a year ago...

trying to get a new battery on warranty, they cleaned the throttle body which fixed it for long enough for the warranty to run out then it came back so I replaced the battery and haven't seen again in 6 mo.

Default TT does not like a battery that is borderline>>>

just cause it starts, does not mean it is 100%..based on your description, i would say it is a battery that is showing signs of a slow death...it is close to 4 yrs old now....

Might be time to test with a voltmeter....12.4volts or less, and i would suggest considering replacing the battery before the car leaves ya stranded! ;-)
