Default Stuck glove box.

11k miles and my first minor annoyance. My glove box is stuck shut.

I did a quick search and it seems this isn't a unique problem. I probably over filled it and it it won't open. Now I know the problem, how do I fix it. None of the previous posts offered any help, although many said they had broken the latch trying to get it open.

Any ideas on how to get it open without breaking it and without going to the dealer?

get the dealer to replace the lock mechanism -- it's a warranty repair

Default You can try to *gently* and *slowly* work the latch open with one hand...

and with the other hold or press your hand at the pivot point of the latch.
Also, try to *push in* the top of the door, as you move the latch.
This takes pressure off the latch.

There are small 1/8" x 1/8" plastic nubs that are on the GB door that hold the *metal* latch in.
If you force the latch, it will snap these nubs.

The result is, you door is open, but now you are f&^%%ed.

You are right, you putt too much in the pocket

Default Use a pry bar to open it and then you can stick it shut with a piece of duct tape..

...from now on.

Default Again, here is a situation where a Sawz-All would be a better solution and you

just refuse to admit it!

Default Good point. With a hole in the front of the box, you can skip the tape.

Be sure to use a belt sander to clean up the rough edges around the hole.

Push door in at upper left and try to open; don't force it thought. If no go- dealer.

don't pull too hard on the latch! It's cheap and breaks real easy...
