Stupid Coolant (antifreeze) Question

As its gotten colder my "coolant" warning light
has been going on on the cooler mornings (<45 F)when I start up my TT. I checked the level of the coolant and noticed that it was a little bit below the minimum. When the engine warms up, I guess the coolant expands and the level rises. Even so, the manual says you are supposed to check it when it is cold, so I bought some of the special Audi coolant today.
Well, I had no idea how much coolant it would hold so I figured I'd just add equal parts of water and coolant. I added the water first (I know, I know I should have pre-mixed them) and after a little more than a cup I almost overflowed the overflow tank. True, the engine wasn't completely cooled down but I thought it would take at least a pint of coolant. Now, I've added all this water and there isn't any room to add the coolant! I don't suppose this is a major problem, but I'd somehow like to correct the ratio. Anyone have ideas?
Also, I'm due for an oil change too, and I've been using Mobil 1. I know I've asked this before, but I've forgotten the answer... What is the best Mobil 1 to use? At least for the winter months in Massachusetts.
Thanks.
Lastly, hello everyone! I've been gone from the forum for a few months. I hope to keep in better touch from now on.

My wife's bug did the same thing while she was traveling on work. Of course, the owners manual says. Stop driving!! Find a dealer!! The world is soon coming to an end!! Seems like most of the German cars, especially VW/Audi are very sensitive in the "warning" category. It's normal for some water to get used up, even in a closed system. A little top off won't hurt at all as regards your mixture.
Re oil: If you want to use Mobil 1, 5w30 is supposed to be the ticket. I'm just a little scared of this new "tri-synthetic" formula.
Read, "cheaper base stocks" formula. I'm using Red Line 5w30, FWIW.
Hope that helps.
