Oakley sells a hydrophobic kit that you can rub onto glasse or any other surface...
and it essentially does the same thing. We just dont have the capacity to make enough to cover an entire plane! Really cool technology and chemistry that drastically increases the surface tension allowing the water droplet to bead up. Oakley offers glasses that have the "hydrophobic" coating on it and you can draw on the lens with a sharpie with no permanant damage.

http://oakley.com/innovation/optical_superiority/hydrophobic</a

Finally someone I can thank for all the cool stuff!!!
I've been wearing Oakley for probably 16 years...I love it.
Still wearing my Magnesium M Frames to this day...you don't have any "spare" replacement lenses laying around do you? Customer service told me they're gone forever

If your ever in Orange County Ca you should stop by our world headquarters it is insane...
as for the magnesium stuff, we havent made those in quite some time. That program was a bit of a flop but it was before my time so I dont know much about it. Have you tried putting a regular M-frame lens in them?
