Tach sticking

Tach sticking
Each morning when I start the car, the tach sticks at 0 then shoots up to idle speed after 2-3 sec. Doesn't do it during the day or after warm up. Is it going to get worse and should I go ahead and schedule a time to have the cluster replaced under warrany?

i had the exact problem along with that dimmer buzz
they thought both issues would be resolved with a cluster repair. the buzz is gone, but tach problem is still there. will bring up again on my next dealer visit...

On my 3rd cluster and seems to me like a lube problem as all three ...
have done this only when very cold. I wouldn't think this is an early sign of cluster failure but I would have it documented so you have a complaint on file. If you have the buzzing light dimmer I would complain about both as that is a first generation cluster which IMHO will (not may) fail at some time.

Can you describe this dimmer buzzing? I have heard a faint noise comming from that area in the morning as well but I thought it was just a vibration.

dimmer buzz...
turn everything off (radio, a/c, etc) and close the windows to get rid of exterior noise. in a quiet setting, you should be able to hear a buzz which varies in loudness/pitch when you dial your cluster dimmer up and down.

The old lazy tach problem, probably not the cluster...
I had this creep up and get worse over 6 month period...finally my car battery got week. Once I (the dealership actually) replaced the battery, no more lazy tach.

I can take credit for the anwser, this is My source...
