Temp gauge issue.. part 2.... any thoughts?

Interesting on Block 49. Car is stone cold>>>
and the reading is 30 degrees celcius. Block 51 reads 14 degrees celcius. Ambient temp outside is about 54 farenheit.
Drove to hartford and back today and used both blocks. Block 51 read 90 degrees celcius for the whole day...Block 49 ranged from 98 degrees celcius to 105 degrees celcius....
I have a tendency to lean towards block 51, as the ambient temp was VERY close to the block reading, while block 49 was 15 degrees celcius too high right off the bat....any thoughts on this all???

Hans...... block 51 read 90 Celcius all day after I checked it out.
I take it from this that I have a cluster issue as you do Hans? Even though temp gauge is showing more toward the hot end of the spectrum, if block 51 states 90 C, all should be good? How much is a new cluster?!!

Anywhere from 590$ to 750$ installed.....>>>>
did you flip over to block 49? If so, what did it read??? Mine jumped all around a bit, but just seemed off. I have yet to see an Audi, that is running right, have its temp bounce around like that.....

I only monitored block 49 briefly as the 2 temps were off....
will check it out again tomorrow or later tonight. But, you experience the same issue with your cluster and feel as long as block 51 is at 90 C, the car is not overheating?

That's my feeling>>>
my new vag gear will validate it, but i had it tested against vag, and the car was running spot on 199-200 fareheit, which would match my 90 degrees celcius.
Still like to FULLY understand block 49 tho.
This link does not match Block 49 as it comes from an S4....but 51 is correct. Like i said, just want to understand FULLY what 49 is.

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/int6.shtml</a

One other thing i noticed with my cluster>>>
the temp gauge bounces from cold to 2 lines up when the car is off, but a door is open....
Also, my temp gauge reads the car is running normal, gauge pointing due north, when i start the car...then climbs to H..and pegs itself there...
plus i have a green sensor too...so that is my deduction....

so far I'm not pegged at the Hot end of the spectrum....
I had chalked it up to the timing belt/water pump issue originally as the car does have 85k. I'll drive it a little easier int he belief that all is well it's just my cluster acting funky.... which at the same time is a bit disappointing as it'll be another cash outlay down the road that could've gone to a suspension or clutch. I guess if the water pump solves the problem on Monday that'll throw a wrench into the issue. Thanks for all the info and I'll keep you posted. Will check block 49 as well and see if I can gather anything there.
