I misread, I thought you said 996, that is why I was completly baffled by your comments
Even still, it is almost like comparing apple to oranges, the two cars are not in the same class. Don't get me wrong, I would agree in the last 5 years the turbo Porsches are amazing cars. My comparison was between the differences in feeling from a turbo charged car to a NA car. I understand that for $15K the added benefits of the S might not be there for people. But for $15K you get those parts people will modify on their TT, and it comes from the factory that way. I have spend $0 on that car, and that is how I will measure how well built the car is. In the end I think we will both agree the TT is an amazing car, especially for its price tag. There will always be something more powerful, and possibly something more powerful that is cheaper. It comes down to what you are looking for from the car.

I wanted awd, so my options were limited.. WRX, S4, A4.. I love the S4, but its just not the ideal track car, and turbos are too pricey. the WRX is nice.. you might say apples to oranges.. your right.. but Im thinking pricetag.. for 10k more.. I get awd, and turbos.. uhmm.. okay. 200hp more.. looks like a good deal to me...

Yeah, but it does everything really well...
What has me considering an S over modding my TT is that the Boxster just does everything well and IMHO is the most completely balanced package out of the box I've ever driven. Driving a Boxster just feels different than drivng a TT, as well one would hope it would for the $30K premium. No matter what changes you make, I suspect a 3200+ lb (3400+ lbs for the roadster), essentially front wheel drive car is never going to handle like a 2850 lb mid-engine car, for better or worse...
I know there are lots of other cars out there with as much or more power for less, but that's not what I'm looking for; if it were I'd buy an S2000 and be done with it...

no one argues they share "platform" - however your post seemed to indicate that the platform
sharing was enough to make the handling and performance similar. Which they aren't - because what VW means under "platform" is sharing some core expensive components - like the core 1.8 engine. However once you improve all the parts in the engine (from factory) and add in turbo's - and intercoolers (factory) - you get a 1.8 that hardly resembles the other 1.8.
Its like saying a Mustang V.8 is the same as a Shelby GTO cause they share the same platform. Utter nonsense.
So - based on the fact that your supposed to be in "tuning" I would assume you either A: Know that and just wanted to give a low blow or B: Dont know what your talking about.

Where do people get these numbers???? A 2002 boxster S with no miles goes for 50k. That is only 10
k over a 225 roadster similarly outfitted, and 15k over a coupe. But then - comparing a convertible to a coupe is hardly fair.

If you want noise, cut out the muffler
Sound seems to be the ptimary theme of your posts. I've heard a lot of Civics and Accords with moded exhausts recently. Try those.
