Default There are a bunch of terminals located in the relay area under the steering column/dash. Is there a

source thats a constant 12V and that does not get interrupted by ignition? I wired my PC to one of them but everytime I start the car the PC has to reboot. Any other terminal I can use?

Default The 75a is switched...>

I think a few of the others aren't. Put a meter on them to check..

Default Sounds like his problem is that he loses power during the engine start.

He gets power before any after.

PC's take some juice, so I'd guess that it's not going to get enough power while the starter is cranking, regardless of where it's tapped.

Maybe you could wire in a UPS.

Default Wow... I finally get so help someone else! Here it goes... there is one.. it's SOLID black

and it's in the wiring bunch which goes through the steering column. I had to tap it for my boost gauge.. you can hook a RELAY to it.. and then use the relay to control the power of another constant source (I needed little power so I wired it directly, however, I would not suggest that).

You have to peel back some of the tape wrapped around the bunch of wires. It's a big bunch.. but it's in there.. just look for it.

It's not about that.. on the TT almost ALL the power sources are interrupted during cranking.

Default So if he relays using that wire as the trigger, he'll still need an uninterrupted power source--

However, since the black wire is ALWAYS ON (assuming a charged battery is present) using it to activate a relay seems to be of extremely marginal benefit.

My suggestion is to run a wire straight to the battery. There's a nice terminal block right above the battery that one could tap into.

Default Black isn't always on. It's ignition switched, but stays constant during ignition...however,

if he turns the key to the "off" position, the black wire will go dead. It's how I had to wire my autometer electronic boost gauge. Took me a LONG time to find/find out about the wire.

He can simply wire direct to the battery using the relay attached to this wire to switch the power source.

I just don't recommend, as I'm sure electronics guru Bipes would likely agree, to use this black wire for a true power source.

Default Thanks guys. Looks like I have to either tap the battery or put a capasitor in.

It does seem like every terminal under "there" gets interruped during start.

Default EVERY major terminal will be interrrupted....

Trust me.. I've searched for hours and hours on multiple days. If you have a bentley or something.. you might be able to find an additional solid black wire.
