Default Temp is probably fine - but I wouldn't mine one that opened a little earlier

and a fan switch that came on a little earlier and stayed on a little longer :-)

Default I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this post...

my car is going in tomorrow moring for timing belt and water pump service and I have the ECS ultimate kit. Based on this info and the other anecdotal evidence from the thread this morning I will be ditching the ECS supplied thermostat and sticking with OEM. Thanks again!

Default Yes, but even then you'd have to deal with the melting fuse box on top of the battery ;-)

The one that's for cooling fan and electric water recirculation pump operation. Mine was toasted due to fan working overtime... These things really keep coming up don't they? Just when you think you fixed something, something else down the chain keeps failing. Arghhh!

If this solves my heat issue, $55 every 60k would be well worth it!!

Default My $0.02

When the timing belt was changed on my TT, the kit I got came with the Whaler thermostat. The car was not happy - the response time (of the theromostat) was slow, the temp would get up to 1 tick past center for some mins then fall back down to dead center. This would repeat in any old driving. I had the company which supplied the kit exchange the thermostat and we changed it out (believe me, the job to do it is worth more than the $17 part). Same deal.

End result? Swallowed the cost (which now would have been cheaper) of an OEM thermostat. The car stays dead center all the time, stop and go, stomping on it, AC on in 90+ weather and traffic.

Talk about penny wise, pound foolish

Just one gal's experience, your milage may very

Default I had suspicions about the ECS repl. and deleted it from my TB kit.

Bought the OEM from the dealer, but haven't put it in yet. Waiting on the "how to" with everyone else, cause I was told you literally have to pull the intake to get to it. I was going to do evoshield at same time.
