I am replacing the timing belt(59k) using the ecs tuning kit and am wondering about the wahler thermostat. I have read here that some people are using the oem thermostat instead of the wahler but I don't quite understand why. I did a quick parts search and found that the oem thermostat uses 87 degrees as the setting as does the wahler. One owner suggested to keep the old thermostat and not even use the new wahler supplied in the kit. Anyone have any ideas on this subject? A new oem thermostat is not expensive so I will buy one if necessary but first I need to understand why the wahler unit is not good. TIA

yourself the thermostat work is almost like a completely different job; the only overlap is the coolant draining. Doing the thermostat as a tremendous amount of added work so you might want to wait on that. JIM
