Thinking of buying a used TT coupe for the little wife, but needs a timing belt. Is this a big deal?

Replacement is between $600-$1000k for the belt. Engine repair would be much more.

suggest that they also do the water pump while their in there for $250 more...the belt should be replaced every 50-60k miles...and inspected every 10k miles (takes 2-3 minutes...by unclipping the upper cover on the passneger side)...if not repaired the valves could crown the engine !!!

Thank you for you reply and comments. Do you have any idea how much it would cost to do the timing belt, belt tensioner, water Pump and thermostat parts and labor. My Audi TT Quattro Roadster is a 2002 and has low miles. So, she is still under the Audi warranty. That's why I have no idea what this costs.
Thanks,

Still under warranty?
At 75K miles, the car from Audi is out of warranty
Was this an extended warranty?
If so, Audi, or the extended warranty company probably will not pay for this preventative maintenance if they are still covering you under warranty.
