Default for those with factory concert radio...

i found this post very interesting... i went out and checked, and my radio wasn't coded from the factory! so i coded it with the code i got when i bought the car, now it comes up SAFE. check it out (probably old, but i've been here for 1 1/2 years and never saw it)... you might want to code your stereo, or you might not care. <ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/85533.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/85533.phtml</a</li></ul>

Default mine wasn't coded either....

when I installed my XM radio, I had the battery unplugged for at least an hour, but upon reconnection, it never displayed the safe sign. Additionally, the dealer never bother to give me the code (when I bought the car (this should have been the first sign), so I obtained it from another dealer during a routine service prior to the install. It surprised me that I didn't need it and figured that maybe it wasn't without power for long enough - go figure...lazy *** dealers!! Thanks for the info though - I don' think I will change it - if some punk wants to steal my Blose, they can have it - doubt I that I would want it after the damage required to remove it without the proper tools!!!

Default Coding instructions didn't work...

I tried the coding instructions listed in the link above with my Bose Concert (upgraded) 2001 head unit and never got the "SAFE" reading.

1. Turn on stereo.
2. Press and hold FM2 and RDS buttons. "Code" appears and then "1000" appears.
3. Release buttons.
4. Use preset 1-4 to set code.
5. Press and hold FM2 and RDS buttons. "Code" appears again, but "SAFE" doesn't no matter how long I hold the buttons in.

I have never set the code in this radio and to my knowledge, neither has anyone else.

What's up?

Thanks,
Scott

Still no luck... guess I'll just forget it unless there are other hints.
