For those with a fast connection: Nice video of an M5 trying very hard
<center><img src="http://public.westcoasttt.com/TT4K9S/porsche_europe_trip/6-15-d.jpg"></center><p>to stay ahead of a 996 at the Nurburging. 9:41 second (abrevated) lap. Pretty good speed.
The video gives you a good sense of what a lap is like there - complete with damp pavement, passing motorcycles on both the right and left and passing a tour bus!

sabine is not your average m5 driver ...
very well-known in bmw circles -- she's won several nurburgring races, and she drives the m5 'ring taxi (as your video probably shows; i don't have a windows box to play it on).

It's a good goal. Driving the Nurburgring was definately a rush.
The history of the place is intimating (if you allow yourself to think about it). I did only 5 laps (and was worn out) I want to do it again some day.
