Default Three springs failed?!?!

I heard a clunking noise and was told 3 of 4 springs had failed on my 2002 TT q 225. I am flabbergasted. Could living in New England and keeping the car outside be part of the explanation? BTW all 4 will be replaced.

Pretty common anywhere they use salt, happens on the other models also.

I have a good set of front springs for sale, never seen salt (west coast vehicle).

I've got a set as well. I swapped out the originals (prob about 35k on them) for sport springs a long time ago. $100 for the set?

I've driven in New England with salted roads for 30 years, driven hundreds of thousands of miles on high mileage VW/Audis and NEVER had a spring fail until the front spring on my 2002 TTQC failed at 75,000 miles. Seemed pretty odd to me.

I just sold my TTQ rear springs to a member in New Hampshire.

It's pretty common, whatever protective coating they use doesn't survive any more.

Still have the springs? I live in West Michigan and don't want to lower mine. Would have to miss too many days at the office.
