Thumping Noise From Trunk

I am having an interesting problem - when the car is cold and I am pulled up at a stop, I can hear a rhythmic thumping noise coming from the rear. It almost sounds like a bottle rolling back and forth in the trunk. Took it to the dealer but they could not replicate the problem since it only happens sporadically. Anyone else had this problem?

Yup, same noise here...

Only when it's cold ... and when I am pulled to a stop.

Don't know what it is either.
If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be great!

Make sure he's really dead........

If you're sure of that, then it could be the pump moving gasoline from one side to the other - if that's it, then it's totally normal.

I have the same thing. I was told that it is noises coming from

the gas tank expanding while warming up.

Ya know, I get the same thing

It is not subtle, either. I thought I was going loony. I thought maybe it is metal expanding somewhere, e.g the muffler, exhaust pipes, etc. and rubbing up against something ???
