Default Timing belt class action suit

Hope this isn't a re:

Just got 2 notices in the mail (one for TT and one for the ex. A4) related to a timing belt class action. In short, if you have your timing belt and related components inspected within 1500 miles of your next service interval AoA will extend your warranty on the timing belt and failure related damage up to the 105,000 miles. Also they'll reimburse you for previous expenses related to timing belt failure. There is a new required inspection interval of every 40K miles.

Timing Belt Settlement

Default does this mean that they acknowledge the TB failure at around 40K or 5 years?

although i never got the TB inspected by a dealer...seeing that i was out of warranty way after.

Default It should also reimburse those who were smart enough to change it early...

..because they knew the maintenance interval was crap.

Default Looks like they'll reimburse you if you have documentation of the repair costs

you have to submit the claim before Sept. 30th and reimbursement is subject to approval of the class action settlement

Default Maybe someday ours will be classic engines too. Remember these? Big news in 1967.

Default so basically>>

if you do your own work, you're out.

if you mod, you're out.

so that means that as always, 99% of us are doomed to buy our own TBs

Default Maybe we should all submit claims for reimbursement anyway

regardless of whether we had engine damage or not and see what happens.
