All this talk is making me worry about my timing belt..I have a 2001 TT 225 quattro with 45k miles and the certified warranty expires 02/2006.

If the timing belt breaks I will be covered until either 100k miles or 02/2006, correct? Or does the certification not cover broken timing belts?

for the timing belt is 105K, if it breaks before then its supposed to be covered.

I bought an extended warranty which covers me till 11/07 or 100,000 miles. I specifically asked that question when purchasing the extended warranty...what happens if the timing belt breaks before the recommended interval and was told that it would be covered.

Now whether or not in reality it is will be something I'll have to wait and see. I plan on holding off as long as possible....probably 90K is when I'll have it replaced.

The whole point to the timing belt issue is that the interval should be shortened so people know to replace it. Not that Audi should pay to have it replaced but to let people know when. If they changed the interval to 60k they wouldn't pay for it, but people would know.
You obviously want to keep your car long term. Knowing what you know, it doesn't make sense to wait. Having the proper information is a lot different than hoping for a free ride. Besdies, I'd do whatever I could to ensure I had my original motor built in the factory, not something put back together by Earl down at the dealership.
If you're going to do it at 90k you already plan on paying for it. Why not do it now and have peace of mind that your TT will always be available to drive and won't be in the shop for weeks getting put back together in who knows what shape.

I don't plan on keeping the car past 100K out of warranty.

Oh and besides which....at the rate I put on mileage, I'll hit the time before the mileage.

water pump impeller was intact BUT cracked... don't know how long before I could have added it to your collection. Stupid AoA - the new pump has a proper metal impeller
