Default timing belt question...do I need to do the Tensioner Roller and the thermostat..? ...more...

I just dropped the TT off to get the timing belt/water pump service done. I told the guy what I wanted to be done (I got a list off of the forum) and he said he would do everything for me on the list but he doesnt normally do these two items... the tensioner roller and the thermostat. He said that he's been working on Audi's for over 27 years and they dont go bad. What do you guys think.

please respond asap so if they need to be done I can call them. They said that do everything but those two parts and it cost $550 it would be about $250 more for the other parts.

Thanks

Default Tensioner is critical

That's generally the part that fails, the belt itself is pretty sturdy. OEM thermostat is OK, but pretty cheap to replace once you're in there.

Default It's a good idea.....>>

To replace the roller. The tensioner and the water pump are the most critical, but the roller is cheap insurance and no more to do while you're in there. It's a $60 part. The Thermostat is a whole different install and not so critical...

<a href="http://To%20replace%20the%20roller.%20The%20tensioner%20a nd%20the%20water%20pump%20are%20the%20most%20criti cal,%20but%20the%20roller%20is%20cheap%20insurance %20and%20no%20more%20to%20do%20while%20you're%20in %20there.%20It's%20a%20$60
