Default Timing Belt Tension Question

I just completed a Timing Belt job on my 225 1.8T For what ever reason, I don't feel confident that the tensioner is performing as it should. Can any one give me an idea of how tight the belt should be? I.e. how much the belt should deflect if you press down on it after Cam Sprocket. Or what the distance is from the foot on the tensioning roller to the top of the tensioning device.

Even after pulling the pin on the tensioner, the belt is looser than I expect.

FYI I'm using the timing belt kit from diesel geek that has the Gates timing belt.
