Default your dealer is a fu**in idiot! you should tell him so..

we have timing belts, I know this because I changed it myself with JimTT. The 3.2's have a chain I think, but the 1.8T ALL have belts. And all should be changed at 60K miles

Default Unless you have a 3.2, this is true. However, 3.2s do have a timing chain. Otherwise...

*DO* worry about it!

Default It may be a language barrier... try asking him about the "Ribbed Belt"

I know there is a timing chain doohicky somewhere in there but the belt thingajig witht the tensioner doodad that hooks up to the water pumping whatchamacallit is reffered to as the "ribbed belt" in some manuals and possibly your local dealers vernacular.

Honestly... I'd find another dealer though or talk directly to a tech.

"Ribbed" for her pleasure. "Woo hoo!", she moaned, excitedly yet somehow strangely disinterested.

Default There are an awful lot of belts snapping much earlier than the recommended replacement mileage.

I really, really think you should replace it at between 60-70k. Who told you this, Mike?
