I openend my e-mail the yesterday and there was a message from this guy stating he was an investigator from the NHSTA a and had reviewed this board because of a complaint he had recorded re: the Bidgstone RE040 tires that are on our TTQ's.. He requested that I follow a link to a fed. website and complete a form describing my tire ordeal.
A little to 1984 for me but kind of cool to think that some good might come of it.
I wonder just haow many people have had problems with these tires?

A forum search for "Bulge" turns up 57 matches.
Of course, most are follow-ups, or OT, but I counted 6 posters (including myself) that have had this problem. No actual blowouts that I could find.
Fairly high, given that our cars are less than a year old, and the small % of TT owners we represent.
I think the RE040's are more likely to be damaged by potholes than the tires most of us are used to.
SO...keep your tire pressure to spec, and check for bulges every time you wash the car, or after driving on rough roads.

They are now varying the tire that comes on the S4 in the USA (ie. it's not always the Bridgestone anymore). I have 8 RE040's in use with no problems yet. (~11k miles on S4 and ~7k miles on TT) I actually have another set (spare) with ~3k miles on them (on TT rims).
I suppose you realize that Bridgestone and Firestone are the same company? I also assume that you've heard of the SUV tire recall by Firestone on the ATX, ATX II and Wilderness tires? I bet that's not a coincidence you are now getting 'customer service'.![Wink](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
