Default Tire Rotation Question

On a quattro TT, how do you rotate the tires? In the same way you would a 2 wheel drive car, or do you even have to rotate the tires at all?

Are you using directional tires? This limits you to a front to back swap, same side of car.

Default Those are considered *ultra high performance* tires

and have a unidirectional tread design. Directional arrows are on the sidewalls.

Default Yes, you have to keep the tires on the same side if you want to rotate them.

Front to back only on the same side. -Doug

What about flipping them on the rim? Does it really matter which side faces out?

Default Most definately.

There are two different sides to directional tires. You can only mount them one way on a rim and install them a certain way according to the arrows on the tires.

Default Do you mean that they won't hold air unless installed per the arrows or what? When I raced SCCA on

DOT radials such as Toyo Proxes RA1, Hoosiers, Kumho, et al., that were directional, we would often flip them and get another couple of sessions out of them. Of course, at that point the directional tread was pretty much gone and they were essentially slicks. I haven't K-MAC'd yet so I am getting some inside wear on the back and I'll have to change tires long before their useful life is up unless I can flip them around.
