Tires/Lease dilemma. Advice appreciated
My OEM Potenzas are in pretty bad shape. 1 of the tires is pretty much bald at this time and you can see the tire start to rip apart.
I currently have Pilot Alpin/Steel Wheels mounted, but I'm ready to mount the performance tires back on. I should probably get new tires, but my lease ends in December, so I really don't want to drop a couple of hundred dollars for new tires only to hand it back to the dealership in December.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? Should I get used perf tires? How much do they generally cost? I don't think I'll end up buying the car at the end of the lease... Is there a penalty if I return the car with bald tires?
Thanks in advance
Regards,
Edwin

It's one of those "pay me now, or pay me later" deals. Probably cheaper for you
to replace with something akin to the stock tires than to pay what the leasing company will charge you.

When you turn your car in you will be billed for tires if...
the tread is less than 1/4". I turned in a VW Jetta last week and got nailed for $200 because 2 tires were 1/32" under. If you will be driving the car until December it is best to be driving of safe tires.
