don't the new ones get like 24mpg? Pretty impressive for a big rig.

My old one (1983) gets 21. Just depends on how you want to use it!

Default this one (2004) is rated at>>

11 city / 15 highway I think. Everywhere I look at the 2008s, I can't find any published MPG stats. I would be hard pressed to believe they managed to squeeze much more than that out of the gas burner unless it's geared shorter (less towing capacity) as the new engine is almost the same as this, but with a 3v head.

The Powerstroke Diesels that I was looking at (99-00 with the 7.3) were rated about 1 more MPG than the gas burners. The current diesel is far more sophisticated than the old 7.3 (not sure about reliability) so maybe it gets in the 20s... again, can't find where it's published though.

Good news is that this thing holds 38 gallons! It's going to be my "daily driver" til I find something I want. Luckily, I don't drive much as I home office. =)

Default yeah! definitely the largest single cash outlay in the process

though the trailer i want isn't cheap.... runs close to $4K used.... $6k is list... for an Aluminum Featherlite open hauler. I may "cheap out" and get a steel trailer. We'll see.
