Default Lesson in Compound Interest

Just to be a naysayer, I will mention
that, assuming a conservative 8% real
rate of return, a dollar spent today
would be worth nearly 25 dollars 40 years
from now. If one saves 10K on a car
now, that's a 1/4 of a million at
retirement. A slightly more optimistic
real return of 10% translates into 1/2
a million 40 years from now.

Hence the unopened freezer door has become a symbol of freedom in the Denny household!

Default Ok, what about absolute happiness

I could have been the guy who wished he had bought that car straight out of college. Then it became too late because he met a girl, then marriage then a kid, then practicality. Screw that, I 'm young now. I have the money now, I already have various investments for the future, (I bought Nvidia before they introduced the Ge force), so the future is of no concern to me. I may die tomorrow but I will always know I owned a TT first, no a bank account at 8% interest.

Default I'm 18 and have had a TT for 2 months now..

and completely love the car. Yes, maybe I am too young for a vehicle like this, but hey, we all have the same great taste don't we?
Blue/Blue 180QC w/Performance package/Bose/MKII suspension/Madico Chrome tint (50%/35%)/Piaa Bulbs/APR Stage 1 Chip w/EMCS module/Growing list

Default Old people with nice cars........ Maybe?

This remind of the first week I got my car. During a smoking pit stop a pack of girls in a VW cabrio park next to me and admired the car. Then promptly asked if my dad knows I drove his car out. I told them I bought it with my own money. Then shrugged and left for the store and I overheard one of them say, "Its not his car, only old cars drive nice cars." um... ouch? Not all bad, since that means I'm not old.
JasonC

Default And just think, when you're 'old' like me, your insurance could go down another 50%.

BTW, my second "real" car (i.e., out of college was a new RX-7). I was 22 at the time and had also just bought my first house (even if it was tiny). Times haven't changed all that much.
