Default contrast and color should remain turn down permanently to preserve longevity and prevent raster burn

the only break in rules are that the set should have anywhere between 100-500 hours on in before you do any calibration or ISF work.

also, statistically, most physical problems occur in the first 50-100 hours so it is sort of an insurance measure

the extended warranty is probably a good idea, you may want to reconsider; one in home service visit will cost more than an entire warranty - most warranties also included lemon policies, partial rebates if you never file a claim, and free cleanings.

FYI: new version of VE comes out later this year mastered in hi-def 1080p/24 frames
