So, I had my first DE/track days with the TT this past weekend at Carolina Motorsports Park. The DE school is run by Turn One, and they did a really nice job with everything. I would definitely give them a favorable review for the entire experience.
Pics first:

The track: 2.25 miles, 14 turns.

This one was an absolute beauty. He had a 351 that had been bored to 396. Sounded as good as it looked, but he broke something on the second or third run and left.

This C4 was in my group. Of course he was faster, but didn't pull on me nearly as much as I expected.

These Vettes were in another group, but the Mustang GT was in my group. I ate this sucker up all day both days.

This guy was also from Charleston. The s2k is a much better track car than the TT. He not only handled better through the technical sessions, but also pulled on me on the straights. I was surprised that he pulled on me.

A cream-puff of an '88 model.

This modded mini was eating people alive.

A real monster of a Vette.

I got lots of compliments on the TT. Everyone asked about the interior (as usual).

This 914 had replaced the original engine with a 6-cyl. This thing sounded awesome!

By far the loudest car at the event.
<img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b231/lowcountrytt/PIC_0072.jpg">
This was my instructor's heavily modded Mustang. Where my TT would only get up to 95-100mph, he would hit 125-130mph.
<img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b231/lowcountrytt/PIC_0076.jpg">
A really tricked out 911.

Me with the TT after my last run.
So, I learned a heck of a lot from the instructors. I left there a much better driver than I was when I showed up. I also learned a lot about the TT. I learned in particular that this is NOT a track car. She was very piggish in the tight corners, and did not have enough poop up high to go as fast as I wanted to. The entire weekend was spent in gears 3 and 4. A little more grunt on both ends would have been nice, but I've decided that I'm not really sinking any more money into performance mods for this car. I think I'll save up for a 993 coupe, which would be much more practical and user-friendly for such events. Maybe within the next couple of years I can pull the trigger on that.
In closing, I'd just like to re-state that I had a fabulous time. The six twenty minute driving sessions each day were really too much seat time, and a steal at only $405.
PS. Sorry for the crappy pics. The wife had the good digital cam at some freaking yoga party, and I got stuck taking snapshots with a video camera.

from a roll anyway, if it's already up in vtec it's very close. Since the TTR is a fair amount heavier than a coupe I'm not surprised the S2000 pulled on it.
