Default Trying to follow Jeff's key re-code instructions, having problem...

I changed batteries in both of the keys. I am trying to re-code, but the blinker lights will not flash when I press and hold down a button, as the instructions state. Any help?

His instructions below:

"Your second key is the problem. you may need to take out the batteries in *both*, then re-code.

Maybe the 2nd remote has a bad battery or transmitter.

Remote key re-setting proceedure

1. Take the valet key, put it into the ignition and turn the key to the "on" position, just prior to starting the car.

2. Roll down the driver's side window (not required, but a good idea in case there's a problem).

3. Exit the car and close the door.

4. With a second key, physically lock the doors (don't use a remote).

5. Take the first remote to be programmed, press one of the buttons and the lights will flash once. Wait 10 seconds and press the unlock button. The doors should unlock. That first transmitter is now programmed.

6. Lock the door again (physically) with the key, (not the remote).

7. Press one of the buttons twice, the lights will flash twice. Wait 10 seconds and press the unlock button. The doors should unlock. The second transmitter is now programmed.

For a third transmitter press the button 3 times and for a fourth press 4 times."

Thanks!

Default Can anyone offer to help? Getting no response to this procedure.

I have tried switching between keys in the ignition, but it makes no difference.

I was able to successfully change the Central locking values (5+ mph lock, etc.) with VAG-COM, so I know it is responding. Also able to manually lock doors from the outside with both keys.

Help!

Thanks,

JOhn M.

Default Well, what's it *not* doing? Can you re-code one key fob? This proceedure has worked for me...

I coded 3 remote fobs in series this way.

Are you using the right key in the ignition?

Default The car doesn't have its original valet, so I'm using the second key in the ignition.

Reading the directions, it says that the hazards should blink for every "unlock" key press, like 1 flash for 1 press, meaning 1st position in block 006, 2 flashes for 2 presses, 2nd position in block 006, etc. - but I get no flashing response whatsoever, no matter what button is pressed.

Default I just tried to erase the memory positions as decribed in the bentley

but I get no flash responses from that either. Here are the directions I followed:

Erasing memory positions
Memory positions can be erased, e.g. if a customer has lost a radio-controlled remote key.
Switch ignition on (using an additional key).
From exterior, lock driver's side door, using door lock.
Press "Unlock" button of radio-controlled remote key 5 times in 1 second intervals.
Note:
Every button depression is confirmed by the emergency flashers.
Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
Memory positions have been erased. The central locking system must not unlock when operating the "Unlock" button remote key.
Check display field 3 in measuring value block 006 => page AUDI-TT-BD01-01-003-0901-83.
Read measuring value block 6 ?
0 0000 0000 Indicated on display:
All memory positions have now been erased; all digits in display field 3 have been set to "0" (in example: 0000).
Up to four keys can now be adapted.
