I used to have an A4 1.8T. I was checking the TSBs tonight and notice that the TT engine is listed as 1.8 ATC. The A4 engine is listed as 1.8 AEB. Further the TT has an oil capacity of 4.8 quarts (4.5 litres), the A4 3.7 quarts (3.5 litres).
So, what's the difference? My only thought is that as the TT has a transverse engine it has a larger oil pan for some reason.

Christopher...I got your email....unfortunately I don't know
what the differences are. It may have different injectors.
I did speak to an audi technician trainer once..he listed
a few things...but I forgot what he said. I will try to ask
him again. He is local...and a friend of mine.

I don't know the details of the internals, performance-wise the engines are identical when chipped. However, there are vast differences between longitudinal engines and transverse engines. Everything related to packaging of the motor has to be redone from scratch. For example, the ECU is sealed because it is not mounted in a sealed plastic box like on the A4.
