Default TT finally back on the track!

I finally got my TT back on the track this weekend after only being on the track one other time this year. Believe me, tracking your car only twice a year is a tragedy! Speed Ventures had a track day at Streets of Willow Friday through Sunday and I signed up for both Saturday and Sunday.

It was such a great feeling to drive on the track again. The TT pulled strong and felt great. Although not as fast as most of my friend's cars pulling times in the high to mid 1:20's, I was still doing very respectable low 1:30's usually in the 1:31 range. My best time was a 1:30.4 and is shown in the second lap of the video below.

The problem that ended my weekend though was that one of my hoses kept blowing off. Even though it had a new and recently tightened clamp, the lip of the hose was weak and wouldn't stay on with the boost. I didn't want to risk causing any further damage to the car and knew that I couldn't get a new hose that weekend so I decided not to drive Sunday. I'll post a different thread about this hose in a bit.

Here is a video of three laps from Saturday though including my fastest lap of the day, the second lap. Also, please excuse my missed braking point at the hairpin at the beginning of the video.

Also, my friend Sevan was testing out his new Canon 500mm lens and got these of me.

Default Fun--- thanks for posting

Sure, you late braked the hairpin on lap one (we have all done it or worse.), but notice the effectiveness of the trail braking of the next left hand turn at 0:21 sec . The car rotates so nice when you do that! All in all your consistency indicates that you were getting about all out of the car that was there. Interesting track, SO different from our tracks in the Southeast. Those esses look challenging. Goof up one and you have ruined your line through the whole series. Your car sounded good. I have blown a hose before too. Scares the crap out of you. Sounded like street tires right? Which ones ? I'm thinking of going to Nitto NT01 for next season. I've been running Falken RT 615 but friends on R comps are embarrassing me :-)

Default A note on the R-comps - you'll need much more front camber.....

to get the most out of em. I'm running 1.3 negative in the front and i'm getting some interesting wear on em on one of our tracks. Nitto recommends a minumum of 2 degrees negative - and i'm thinking that camber is what is causing my problems.

Default define "interesting wear" please. I added camber plates after wearing out the outside edges

currently at -1.3 front, -0.8 rear.

Haven't tracked it yet at those settings.

Default Seems like i've got some odd scalloping going on, primarily on the passenger front

rears are fine. It's on the inside of the outer edge. It could be from the car pushing and possibly lacking some front end grip. I know my rear camber is way to high right now forcing too much rear grip - going to stiffen up the rear bar first and see how that helps - bit i'm pretty sure more camber upfront would help alot. Ultimately i'd like to go with 2.5 degrees in front and 1.25 or maybe a bit less in the rear.

I never had this issue with my Hankook R-comps and my suspension setup is the same. They also 225/45 vs the 235/40's i'm running with the NT-01's.

All my front suspension bits/bushes were replaced this year. One other culprit could be the sphericals in the front LCA's - since they are only in the rear position - but I don't see how that would make much a difference.

Ha, I know. But you're the one who left SoCal though!
