Please above. The design is primarily a harness bar. However, in the event of a rollover, it should provide a little added protection.

Material callouts: 1 1/2" & 1 3/4", .093" extruded steel tube
finish: Powder coat. (color TBD)

cheers,
Chad A.

Default Why not have made from stainless and polish. Seems that would

go well with the TT.

Costly and the fact that stainless is a B*tch to weld...

Default Are you planning to sell these? Id be interested if it ends up having a diagonal brace,

or slopes back with the rear window, like the ABT cage. I really like that your prototype uses the factory bolt locations... nice touch.

Got to get one made and then test fitted against your car first. See if it needs revisions.

Default Not sure, depends on the interest. The cross bar is not needed due to....

...the intended use of the bar. It is nott a full bolt in cage. But, rather a nice solid harness bar with roll cage features. Also, the cross bars created a visual blockage in the rear view mirror. If you are interested in a cage, any local welding shops could custom build one for you.

I will continue with this project and keep the forum up to speed on my progress. If it looks good price wise, I will forward it to you guys...

cheers,
Chad A.

Default I spent today making a prototype out of PVC. I will be taking...

...this to the metal shop (along with the car) to get the final fabricated. So far, an excellent fit.

Default Made an excellent choice for first proto material :D Hope the metal shop can duplicate your effort..

accurately so the first part fits right off the bat. But chances are they'll tack weld the pieces together in the car to make sure the end product fits. So make sure they don't burn holes in your carpet or leather seats.

welding stainless is same as welding mild steel.
