Default What you expected from a car in '62 isn't what you'd expect from a '02 model...

You're still talking apples and oranges. And, those of us who are willing to overlook problems and keep returning to a car despite its failings are either enthusiasts or fools (or both). I happily join you in the enthusiast category, but the fact that a '02 model might provide better reliability than a '62 doesn't excuse it from providing less than acceptable reliability based upon current market standards. Somehow the ad slogan, "It may not be as reliable as a $20K '02 Miata, but it won't fall to pieces like an '83 Firebird" doesn't seem to cut it.

Point well taken, but based on what you said about current standards, that held true back in the 60's too. I have vivid memories of those reliability issues (now I'm showing my age), but based on "current standards", apples to apples certainly applies. Everything old is new again.

Most reliability complaints are "ego problems"? That's ridiculous!

An unfortunate and misleading report from a complaint clearinghouse of statisticians.

Default I wonder what they mean by reliability? As to engines and everything working correctly, never

a problem with the Audis I have owned A4, A6, TT. I have only had some minor inconveniences for the most part - Nav Unit needed replacing 4 X - but I don't consider that a problem with the car itself.

CR has never liked Audis and never will - they like to BF BMWs

Rule #1: Never listen to anything CR says about cars!

Default It soulds like a ground loop problem. They tried pulling the Haldex fuse, still there...

They replaced the cd changer. Performed the 2K coupe TSB and other funky stuff. No luck. It is just annoying on soft music. But for a $1200 system, it should be better.

Default I don't think so...

On mine, they altered the grounding at least 5 times, tore the wiring apart, even replaced the stereo.

Only changing out the Haldex control unit worked. I now have NO interference. Sometimes they are hesitant to approve this, as it's an expensive repair.

wouldn't pulling the Haldex fuse make the noise go away? How did your dealer find this?

Default So, what are they recommending that everyone drive?

It's typically something like a popular rental car.
