people on this forum are car enthusiasts. many of us are also audio enthusiasts, etc. for us, a specialty magazine is in order. but for typical joe consumer who has no problem driving a chevy malibu, reading CR might turn them on to an accord or camry which would be more reliable and likely offer higher quality parts and better performance. similarly, for audio, most of my friends think just having seperate components is "high-end" when compared to a shelf system (or whatever they have). for them, the CR ratings on audio are probably a fair guide (though ignoring any recommendation of bose).
when i am buying something i am not really interested in becoming an expert on (vacuuum cleaner, toaster, etc) looking at CR gives me some confidence i'll get something reasonably well-performing that won't break and wont cost a fortune.

Who have you been dealing with at audi that you got another car. I have had more problems with my tt then i can list without this becoming a huge post. i'm talking major problems. Engine, transmision, electrical to name a few. But audi in no way will take the car back. So i got a lawyer and am in the process of sueing under the lemon law. So i really don't know how you can say most complaints are ego problems. Maybe you don't mind paying a lot of money for a car with problems but me i really expect a car at this price range to be much better then my tt is.
