TT roadster vs SLK 230?

IMO....
First I'm not a convertible kind of guy. I do understand the appeal though. With that said, I want a coupe so I prefer the TT's design and spirit.
If I was looking for a roadster, the SLK (minimum the 320) would be the choice for me. The SLK's hard top is pure genius. You have a roadster, but when needed you have a hard top in your back pocket.

TT Quattro Roadster hands down...
I don't know why but for some reason, unless the SLK is Sunburst Yellow, it just screams "old fart" to me. The styling is a bit staid and boring. Consider it a Chrysler Sebring in roadster form. The lines are nice but the car just doesn't move me emotionally.
Also, until recently you couldn't get the SLK with a stick and Mercedes' past automatics have always been a bit slushy.

Well, not to sound blasphemous, but
i am just not a fan of the TT Roadster looks. I feel the Coupe captures the essence of the TT with its sweeping deck lines through the hatch and roof down to its fat rear end. the Roadster cant do that due to obvious style constraints (they cut the roof off..duh ;>
Dont get me wrong, i love the inside, the front and all that. but just dont like the new roof (the top) and the rear of the car, but that is just my opinion. You asked, there you go.
Now, the 230: a friend owns one and she loves it. shes a car nut and has owned 4 cars in 4 years, all Mercedes. She said this is definately the one for her. Ive ridden in it and must say i like it too. I like the styling better, i like the execution of the roof line better, the rear better, etc. The interiors of each of the cars are both well-executed, just different. TT is more industrial and the Mercedes is a bit more..refined. its your choice.
Ive owned 3 roadsters (1 Vette and 2 Miatas) so i am very picky about these cars (looks, performance for the dollar, etc). These are just my opinions and did not drive the 230. Did drive the 225 TTR and loved the performance factor for sure!
Status factor: Mercedes trumps Audi
Cost factor: Audi trumps Mercedes
Your factor: Dont know, but pls tell us once you decide!
