Pro- unique, best option to keep lines of the coupe and top down of the roadster, better looking then a sunroof
Cons- possible structural consequences, leaking, lower resale value
I would love to do it, BUT if I did it, I would have the center area of the roof cut out- NO modifications to the structural beams that run though the car. I would then have a lexan clear roof made at the SAME curve. Similar to the Porsche 911 Targa. That can be removed, and would open everything up except for the actual arc over the windows- that is where the cars has structural points- nothing goes though the headliner area. Either way, it would FREAK me out to do either, but none the less it could be VERY VERY cool if done well!

Meh. I cant stand the roadster. Like HACK THIS pointed out, I do want to keep the lines of the car. This way, best of both worlds.

if you want to build a targa TT, start with a roadster then add the hatch, etc..so that you would have the lines of the coupe...starting with the coupe would require too much work IMO...

I have no idea who'd do it, just yet - I've just begun the exploratory stages of it. So I haven't even costed it just yet.
Though I think if I had to keep the door arches in order to maintain structrual integrigrity, then I'd forego the whole process and just get a sunroof.
I'd think, with Porsche having done it, there's got to be a way to reinforce the car to where a true targa can be had.
As to resale, well... That's pretty much out the window anyway on an 00 FWD 180, sadly enough.
Best I can hope for now is to try to build as much curb appeal into the car before I do sell (not in the near future - love it way too much)...
Dunno - If we're talking like $1,500 - $2,000, it would be worth considering. More than that, forget it.
There's gotta be someone out there who has done it. I'd love to hear from them too.
