Default Drove the C5, but...

Corvette is fast but not as fast as I thought it would be. The TT almost scares you once the turbo is full on. Also, TT is much tighter, and design wise both exterior and interior of TT cannot be compared, period. Nobody knows how the Z06 feels, so? Good luck!
2001 Audi TT 225QC

Default Hey Escort Boy...

I was in La Jolla right next to a brand new bright yellow Diablo, and guess which car got the attention? You guessed it, the TT. Perhaps it shouldn't be so, but for now, it is.

It's also fun when I see a group of young guys and they have to choose between checking out my car, or a really good looking woman nearby. I can see the dilemma written on their faces. It's pretty funny.

Default Escort boy........see, this is funny coming from you. Some unknown punk on the other hand....

Well, anyway, I know what you mean about the Diablo/TT tturmoil, if you saw the pics from a week or so ago, you'll remember that I had both cars parked on the marble in the showroom. I would have to say they got equal attention, and this car was a coupe.
And I've also seen my share of young men go completely walleyed trying to gather in both sights.
Escort boy, damn that's really funny, chuckling every time I see it.
Jason Dale

Default J, I had a '95 NSX and loved it to pieces. I only gave it up

because I blew the engine while racing and I didn't
feel like coughing up the bucks to get a new one.
Remember, corvettes are everywhere, like the bugs.

Default Been there, done that; not necessarily true...

Have 44,000 miles on 97 C-5. Also have TTQ (180).

TT has the looks advantage hands down. When C-5 was new 3 years ago, it got lots of attention, but not as much as TT. C-5 has changed so slightly, almost nobody can tell a 97 from a 2001.
Same thing should happen with TT, which is good/bad.

Squeaks and rattles after 20K? Not after 44K! Structure is about same as TTQ. When you make 'em structurally sound, they don't squeak, rattle, etc.

Performance is not quite in the same league. In spite of what (we) TT'ers would like to believe, the physics just isn't there to achieve the vehicle dynamics possible with the 50-50 RWD, lighter(?), better-tired, better braked, much better suspended C-5. Coil-over TT's not excepted.

C-5 really isn't a drag racer. A 225 TTQ with a bonzai start will dust it across an intersection, although nobody has tried me yet. However, my experience is that the C-5 starts to inspire confidence in the driver as speed increases over 100 (hell, over 60). About the time TT tops out, the C-5 is still coming on strong in 3rd gear (with automatic!), and feels gooood about it.

You really should spend quality time in both cars in order to judge. It's educational to drive both regularly, even back to back. Hey, when we go out we usually take her TT. It gets lots more attention. When we want to go fast on the twisties, we take the C-5.

If I had to go cross-country, especially quickly, I'd take the C-5! It is very comfortable for long periods of time, is easier to drive fast and it hauls more stuff, too.

Not trying to change your mind, just trying to give a perspective from someone who's been there.
Maybe it's like comparing Brittney Spears and Catherine Zeta-Jones: same species and gender, but just not the same, even though one is newer.

I kinda like being able to enjoy both the TT and the C-5. I wouldn't lock either out of the garage.

My $.02.
