Default TTQ Quattro Question...

In past posts, Marius B said that the TT Quattro system has an open differential in the rear with no EDL traction control in the rear. Is this true?

If this is true, then the TT AWD system cannot power the non-slipping wheel when there is a slipping wheel on the same "axle". In other word, if three wheels are on "ice", then it can not transfer power to the 4th wheel. This would make the TT AWD system not as capable as the Quattro IV system that all other US Audis have.

Default correction..

In other words, if three wheels are on "ice" (2 front and 1 rear), then it can not transfer power to the 4th wheel.

Default The rear could be left powerless, but if just one front wheel has grip it will pull.

And remember, 60% of total weight is on the fronts, so that means roughly 30% of normal traction.

Default True, but I'm surprised Audi didn't add EDL in the rear ... it's effectively "free" and...

this is how all other Quattros are set up. The "only" difference between the systems is that one has a Torsen for the center diff and the other has a "Haldex" unit. They both have the EDL traction control program added to the ABS system. Interesting... Thanks.
