TTR Oil issues
My 2001 recently had it's 50,000 inspection/service.
It started sounded a little rough so I checked the oil. Not enough to even register on the dipstick!!! So less than 6,000 miles after a service and this baby is dry????
This has happened once before....so much so that the oil pressure light came on.
Any ideas?

They recomend to change oil every 5k miles..........
Depending on how hard you drive the car.. I change mine every 3k miles just to be safe..
check it every 1k or so.. especially now that it's over the 50k mile mark.. my old toyota ate up a quart and a half every 1k miles.. by 3k miles it was empty.. had to keep filing it.. no leaks.. just old engine..

No, Audi recommends 10K oil changes.

yeah, which is a joke!
i always have changed my oil (yes, even synthetic) every 3K miles.
funny, after i picked up my TT at the dealer after they performed the 20K service, the service writer said, "you know, you might want to do an oil change or two before you come back for the 30K service."
LOL...
if nothing else - it's cheap insurance.

no, i haven't...
but i know what it looks like when it comes out, and i'm always down some oil. always, no matter what car (i've owned 15). i tend to burn oil easily - must be my driving habits.
as for a high quality oil, with amsoil or redline i would go 5-6K - i have read the test results. but with mobil1, i won't go beyond 3K.
and audi (or porsche, who spec 12K mile oil changes) doesn't supply their cars with *that* nice of an oil - mobil1 is factory spec for porsche i believe, and pentosynth is for vw/audi.

Let me get this straight. You haven't checked your oil in 6k ...
miles, the car has ran "dry" before and you're using exclamation marks and question marks as if to say WTF ???????
