Default Are TT's reliable commuters?

I currently own a B5 S4, and love it. That said, I start Law School next fall and may need a reliable commuter (approximately a 47 mile drive each way). Even though my S has been just flawless so far, needing no non-minor repairs whatsoever, I think everyone knows of their tendency to suddenly require new turbos without much warning. I've been toying with the idea of trading it for a TT (Black or Grey 225 Roadster with Baseball Optic Interior). Anyone on here using their's as a commuter? Would you say it is reliable enough for my needs?

Also, what do you TT guys think a fair trade for an S4 like mine (2000 Nogaro Blue, 6-Speed, 67k miles , Black Leather/White Alcantara Interior, Retrofitted RNS-E Widescreen DVD-Based Navigation System with Bluetooth Telephone, TV/DVD Player, and XM Radio installed, 18" B6 S4 Wheels, GIAC ECU, etc) would be?

Of course, this is just an idea... nothing even close to being for sure. Just exploring my options. Thanks.

Default I use(d) mine as a commuter....

It is a great commuter car, mine has been reliable. I commuted 60 miles a day with it and loved every minute of it.

Default mine has been really reliable, but you never know...

if you know the history of your s4, then you should stick with it. anything will have issues. two weeks ago i had a factory turbo-related hose pop off without warning. sure, it was an easy fix, so i was lucky.

if you want a reliable, buy a new car with a warranty! it won't be as fun though. ;-)

Default Actually, my S4 has a 100k mile warranty... I'm more concerned about downtime than repair costs....

thanks for your reply though :-)

Default I have 80,000+ miles on mine as a commuter. There has been some downtime, but...

...the dealer has always provided loaners. There are some other shops that do too. Or you could see if you could get some sort of rental coverage as part of your extended warranty.

Default mine is a daily driver into NYC, 120 miles per day..... yeah, it's reliable

this is my 2nd TT I'm pulling this stunt with. the only downtime I had was at TT East when my engine speed sensor went out on my old coupe - $90 part left me stranded an additional day down in TN/AL but noi such issues up here....

Default If you are going to trade-in, be sure to do it before the odometer hits 70k

When you go over 70k, your car can no longer be certified by Audi, so it will take a dip in trade-in value.

Default TT is my daily driver, 60+ mile round trip commute to work

plus 100 miles rt twice a week to graduate school. I've had down time on the TT but it has never left me stranded <knocks wood>
